A Warsaw-area man has been preliminarily charged with murder, accused of strangling his roommate with a cord.

Robert Edward Hurley, 54, has been arrested on the murder charge, according to a statement issued by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies said they were called to the Hide-Away-Hills mobile home park, 2441 W. County Road 250 South, shortly after 12:45 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found the body of Lionel Dale King, 51, inside, and his roommate, Hurley, was taken into custody, the sheriff’s department said.

The initial call to police came from family members, who said Hurley had contacted them about the death, the statement said.

The official cause of death has not formally been determined, pending an autopsy scheduled this morning in Fort Wayne.
