A Cromwell man apparently shot and injured his wife Thursday night before he fatally shot himself in their mobile home, according to the Noble County Sheriffs Department.
Using a handgun, the husband shot his wife in the leg and abdomen and then shot himself in the head, the sheriffs department said.
A neighbor called emergency dispatchers about 10:30 p.m. and reported the shooting at Lot 133 in Shady Acres mobile home park, 3757 County Road N. 900 W.
The wife was identified as Delana Forsyth, 40, and her husband was Christian Forsyth, also 40, sheriffs Detective Shawn Dunafin said.
Delana Forsyth was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, where she was listed in fair condition Friday night, according to hospital staff.
Sheriffs Detective Joe Hutsell said she had undergone surgery and was expected to recover. A detective planned to interview her Friday afternoon, he said.
Hutsell said the case remains under investigation but authorities believe Christian Forsyth shot his wife and himself.
The detective said the sheriffs department was awaiting the results of Christian Forsyths autopsy.
Exactly what prompted Thursdays shootings remains unclear, but, according to Hutsell, officers had been called to the Forsyths home to defuse domestic disputes in the past, some of which were physical.
Were familiar with the particular individuals, he said, and weve had issues before.
