2-time child molester handed 30-year term

A twice-convicted child molester was sentenced this week in Allen Superior Court to 30 years in prison on a single charge of child molesting.

Richard J. Harmon II, 30, of the 1000 block of Home Avenue, pleaded guilty in February to child molesting, admitting to molesting a 4-year-old girl.

On Thursday, Allen Superior Judge Fran Gull sentenced Harmon to 30 years in prison, but ordered that sentence to be served after he serves a four-year sentence in another case, accusing him of failing to register as an offender.

Harmon was previously convicted of child molesting in 2001 and received a four-year sentence, according to the Allen County sex offender registry.
