Pellet gun on bus spurs school probe

Two Lakeside Middle School brothers were removed from a school bus Wednesday morning after one of the boys was found with a pellet gun in his backpack, police said.

The older of the two boys told police that he found the gun underneath the bushes of a house on his way to the bus stop, according to a Fort Wayne Police Department report.

He said he picked up the gun and was showing it to students at the bus stop and then placed it in his younger brother’s backpack and told him that he would get it back later. The older brother said his younger brother did not know what he was putting in his bag, according to the report.

The bus driver pulled over, and the two boys were removed from the bus and taken to the middle school to be questioned by the principal and police, the report said.
