A man accused of breaking into a Lake James home Thursday faces an additional charge of neglect; police said he left a 2-year-old alone while he was supposed to be caring for the child.
Dustin Michael Wood, 29, of Angola, has been charged with felony residential entry and child neglect, according to a statement issued by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies were called to the lake home shortly before 11:40 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they reported finding evidence that someone had left the home barefooted, possible scared away by the owner returning.
No items were reported missing, the department said.
