Pregame primer

The Komets are coming off six straight losses, as they head into tonight's game at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio, against the Walleye.

It's amazing to think that just a few weeks ago, the Komets were vying for first place in the division and now don't look as if they'll make the playoffs.

As we all know by now, it comes down to finishing scoring chances. And that's the one thing you cannot teach, which is why I'm not putting this on coach Al Sims. When you are on a breakaway, you have to put the puck on net. Plain and simple. It's more a personnel issue than anything when that happens. And a little bad luck.

As a sidenote, I'm covering the Bishop Luers' girls basketball semistate game against the Eastern Comets. And I have to say, I will never easily spell Comet again in my life. It just feels weird.
