Luers girls fall in semistate

WARSAW ­– Bishop Luers' run to the state finals ended at three with a 74-55 loss in the Class 2A semistate Saturday at Warsaw.

The Knights (14-12) had been to the last three state finals, winning a title in 2011 and runner-up finishes in 2010 and 2012.

Eastern (22-3) advances to its first state finals behind 48 points from Brittany Neeley and 16 from her twin sister Bethany Neeley.

Luers got 13 points from Addie Reimbold and Emma Wolfe. Tashayla Sutorius added 11.

The Knights will graduate only two seniors, reserve players Sarah Gigli and Schrae Hammock.
