WARSAW – The South Side girls basketball team will making its first appearance in the state finals after a 47-44 win over Warsaw in the Class 4A semistate Saturday.
The No. 11 Archers (24-3) will play No. 2 Bedford North Lawrence (27-0) in the 4A state championship game next Saturday in Terre Haute.
BNL won 66-52 in overtime over Indianapolis Roncalli in the southern semistate.
The teams met in the regular season with BNL winning 63-39 at home Jan. 26.
South Side had been to only one other semistate, in 2008.
The Archers were led by DeJoyah Johnson's 11 points and Ariana Simmons' 10.
Warsaw (24-2) fell to 11-1 at home this year and got 20 points from Nicki Grose and 18 from Jennifer Walker-Crawford.
