Winter weather advisory issued

FORT WAYNE – The National Weather Service has updated its forecast for northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio, issuing a winter weather advisory for counties in the region.

At 3:18 p.m. Thursday, it said that a band of snow is expected to move across our area Thursday night and early Friday, with accumulations of about 1 inch in this area.

The northwest corner of the state is expected to see up to 3 inches of accumulation.

Some freezing drizzle is “likely” late Thursday and early Friday in the advisory area, the weather service said. It said that the glaze of ice is expected to be less than a tenth of an inch.

Counties in the winter weather advisory area include:

  • Indiana – Adams, Allen, Huntington, Kosciusko, Noble, Wabash, Wells, Whitley, La Porte, St. Joseph, Elkhart, Starke, Pulaski, Marshall, Fulton, White, Cass, Miami, Grant, Blackford and Jay.
  • Ohio – Van Wert.
The advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. to noon Friday. An advisory means that the weather is expected to cause slippery roads or limited visibility in some areas.
