North-side house damaged by fire

An early morning fire left heavy damage to a vacant house on the city’s north side, according to Fort Wayne Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to 1426 St. Joseph Blvd. about 2:20 a.m. Sunday.

Crews found fire coming from the rear of the first floor of the two-story house. A search of the house found it was vacant.

Firefighters had the blaze under control 30 minutes after arriving. There were no injuries.

The house had heavy fire, water and smoke damage, firefighters said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
