2 schools send 2 into quarterfinals

East Noble and South Adams both had two wrestlers advance to the final day of the IHSAA state wrestling finals through victories Friday night in Indianapolis.

At 106 pounds, East Noble’s Garrett Pepple defeated Perry Meridian’s Brett Johnson with an 11-0 major decision. And at 113 pounds, East Noble’s Connor Knapp defeated Mitch Weber of Zionsville with a 13-0 major decision.

For South Adams, Sawyer Miller won at 113 pounds with a 10-3 decision over Jack Chastain of Hamilton Southeastern. And L.J. Moser won at 120 pounds with a 2-0 decision over Warsaw’s Luis Munoz, in the only match of the night that pitted two athletes from northeast Indiana against each other.

At 106 pounds, Garrett’s Hayden Lee pinned Lebanon’s Caleb Bocock in 2 minutes, 35 seconds.

At 152 pounds, Huntington North’s Sebastien Eckert pinned Evansville Memorial’s Kody Henshaw in 3:19, and DeKalb’s Conner Brummett won a 3-2 decision over Madison’s Jordan Partee.

In 170 pounds, North Side’s Anthony Linnear pinned Jeffrey Scott of Clinton Central in 59 seconds, and Carroll’s Riley Lefever had a 19-8 major decision over K.C. Hedger of Lawrenceburg.

The quarterfinal matches today will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
