Copper pipe stolen from food bank site

More than 24 feet of copper pipe was reported missing from the Community Harvest Food Bank warehouse Tuesday, police said.

According to police reports, officers arrived at the warehouse at 1010 Coliseum Blvd. N. shortly after 12:20 p.m. and were told that sometime last week, 24 to 30 feet of copper pipe was taken from the building’s exterior.

The warehouse manager received a call from the alarm company Feb. 6 about irregular cooling temperatures in a freezer unit, and it was discovered that about 12 feet of copper pipe was missing from an outside wall, the report said. Twelve to 20 feet of copper pipe had also been removed from an outside cooler unit.

The manager told police the food bank has replaced the copper pipe with galvanized pipes and is awaiting a bill for service on the freezer.
