FORT WAYNE – Three men with guns went into a Fort Wayne bank Thursday morning, forcing the employees to the ground and putting one in handcuffs.
Officers were called to PNC Bank at 5610 Coventry Lane about 9:15 a.m. after the gunmen fled through the back door with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to a statement from the Fort Wayne Police Department.
There were no customers inside the bank at the time, and police said no injuries were reported. One employee was taken to a local hospital for medical purposes, police said.
A canine unit followed a trail into a residential area behind the bank, and the trail ended in the 5100 block of Coventry Lane, police said.
Police released photos of the suspects, but their heads were covered with hooded sweatshirts. All of the suspects were described as being about 5-foot-10.
Anyone knowing the identity of the robbers is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867. A cash reward is possible for information received.
The robbery remains under investigation by the Northeast Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force.
The Coventry branch was also robbed Dec. 12. No arrest has been made in that robbery.
