Ohio school will recognize anniversary of shooting

CHARDON, Ohio (AP) — A concert, memorial walk and service activities are among the plans to commemorate the first anniversary of the shooting at Chardon High School that killed three students.

The (Willoughby) News-Herald reports that a carefully planned agenda has been arranged to recognize the anniversary at the northeast Ohio school on Feb. 27.

Plans include a choir and band concert the night before. On the anniversary, there will be a memorial walk and candlelight vigil.

Students will participate in service activities, including making blankets for Project Linus, a non-profit organization that provides them to ill or traumatized children.

Prosecutors say 17-year-old T.J. Lane fired 10 shots at a group of students in the cafeteria. A judge has ordered a psychiatric evaluation to determine if he is competent to stand trial.
