Moving school bus hit by BBs; adult charged

A 21-year-old Avilla man is accused of shooting at a moving school bus with a BB gun, damaging two windows.

Andrew Martin Thiel, of the 100 block of Old Bog Road, was charged Wednesday in Noble Superior Court II with criminal mischief, according to a statement issued by the county prosecutor, Steven Clouse.

He is accused of firing the BB gun at an East Noble School Corp. school bus on Tuesday afternoon near the Cranberry Acres subdivision in Avilla, the statement said.

No injuries were reported. The charge is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $5,000.

A bond amount had not been set as of early Tuesday evening.
