CHEERS to the couple who paid for our dinner at Halls Drive in North on Lima Road on Jan. 4. When we were ready to leave, the waitress told us our bill had been paid by the couple who sat across from us. We didnt know these people, but we want to thank them for being so kind and thoughtful.

CHEERS to the 71 attorneys who volunteered their time on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. They provided free legal advice to nearly 250 area residents during Talk To A Lawyer Today at sites in Fort Wayne, Huntington and Angola. The Volunteer Lawyer Program of Northeast Indiana depends on the generosity of these caring professionals at this annual event and throughout the year as we provide access to the civil justice system for hundreds of low-income individuals and families.

MARY WOLF Fort Wayne
CHEERS to all who helped me when I fell in the Walmart parking lot at Apple Glen on Jan. 22. I just want all of you to know I am OK; I have an infection that is being treated.
VIC VORNDRAN Fort Wayne
CHEERS to the community for its generous support in response to the burglary that took place at H.O.P.E. for Animals in December. More than $800 was taken from our clinic, and our supporters gave back that amount plus more in just a few short hours. All extra funds will be used to improve our security measures to prevent future incidents.
We all were genuinely touched and are grateful for all who shared and liked our page, donated and offered additional support. December yielded the greatest amount of giving since our opening in June 2010. We know that without our community, we would be unable to offer the services that support pets and pet owners in distress.
As we continue to strive toward our mission to end unnecessary euthanasia of companion animals, we promise to be great stewards of our communitys generosity.
MADELEINE LAIRD Executive director
