A Sellers Lake man was arrested Wednesday morning, accused of selling prescription medications to officers.An overturned semi held up southbound traffic on Interstate 69 in southwest Allen County for most of the day Thursday as crews worked to clear the area and reopen lanes before drivers began their evening commute.
About 10:50 a.m., a semi carrying tractor parts was exiting I-469 onto southbound I-69 near the General Motors plant and took the curve too quickly, Indiana State Police spokesman Sgt. Ron Galaviz said.
“Due to his speed and the weight of the load in the trailer, the whole unit flopped onto the driver’s side … and slid across both lanes and came to a rest diagonally under the bridge,” he said.
Both southbound lanes were blocked for about an hour, but crews attempted to keep traffic moving by directing drivers to use the road’s shoulder, he said.
Around noon, crews were able to separate the trailer from the cab and remove part of the vehicle from the driving lane, Galaviz said.
The trailer remained at the scene so the tractor parts could be loaded onto another semi, he said.
As of 5:30 p.m., both lanes had been reopened, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.
The cleanup marked the third such crash in the last six months at Exit 296, Galaviz said, citing state trooper records.
