Burglar’s cell calls police, then beeps in hiding place

SIDNEY, Ohio – Authorities in Ohio say they had no trouble tracking down a burglar after he accidentally dialed 911 from a cellphone in his pocket.

An emergency operator traced the call to a home in Sidney on Tuesday night, sending sheriff’s deputies to the address to see if someone needed help.

They soon found that a window had been forced open and figured out someone was inside.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says that once in the house, the deputies quickly found the suspect hiding in a bathroom – thanks to his cellphone again.

They say his phone was beeping because of a low battery.
