Credit card theft yields 2-year term

A woman involved in credit card theft was ordered to serve two years in prison by an Allen Superior Court judge Friday.

Kristi Cooper, 30, was sentenced to four years in prison on one felony count of corrupt business influence but had two of those years suspended, per a plea agreement she previously made with prosecutors.

Cooper and others were captured on surveillance video at a Meijer on Illinois Road using stolen credit cards, according to court documents. Cooper later told police the others had broken into a car to steal the credit cards.

Police linked the three to other similar thefts in the area, according to court documents.

The other two involved – 30-year-old Jeffrey Hargis and 37-year-old Kevin Jett – are scheduled for trial at a later date.
