Peter Alexander is tired of explaining it.But the question keeps coming up: Why does Indiana need another law school?Alexander is the dean of the newly created law school at Indiana Tech.After jury selection Monday, testimony got under way Tuesday in Allen Superior Court in the trial of Dontay Martin.
Martin, 23, is accused of carrying a handgun without a license, criminal gang activity, battery with a deadly weapon, two counts of criminal recklessness and four counts of attempted murder.
He and Traneilous L. Jackson, 24, were charged after they were arrested in September, accused of strafing an ambulance and a trailing car with bullets from two semi-automatic handguns.
The shooting injured a Three Rivers Ambulance Authority paramedic inside the ambulance, which was carrying Jermaine Loyall, a stabbing victim from a nightclub at the Piere's complex.
Three women in the car behind the ambulance also were shot, including two of Loyall's sisters, one of whom was shot at least six times.
Testimony Tuesday included the ambulance crew, Loyall and his sisters, as well as Jackson, who pleaded guilty. Jackson's guilty plea to the attempted murder charges last week offered a prison sentence capped at 60 years if he testified truthfully against Martin during his trial this week.
