Mother’s ex charged in death of 13-year-old

STRUTHERS, Ohio – A northeast Ohio man has been arrested and charged in the slaying of his ex-girlfriend’s 13-year-old son.

Police said 43-year-old Zaryl Bush of Struthers was arrested Tuesday, following the weekend death of the boy at a hospital. Authorities said they plan to file more charges on top of first-degree murder.

The (Youngstown) Vindicator (http://bit.ly/XhGNXd) said the investigation began last week when the boy sustained head injuries and frostbite on his feet. Police, who said they were tipped off by a relative, are waiting on autopsy reports to determine what exactly led to his death.

The boy’s mother – who police said has not cooperated with the investigation – hasn’t been charged. The county children’s services agency took custody of her other children.

Jail records did not say if Bush had an attorney.
