IU knocks off Purdue

Cody Zeller had 19 points and 11 rebounds as No. 3 Indiana defeated Purdue 97-60 Wednesday at Mackey Arena.

Christian Watford and Victor Oladipo scored 17 points for the Hoosiers (19-2, 7-1 Big Ten).

A.J. Hammons fought through early foul trouble to finish with a career-high 30 points for the Boilermakers (11-10, 4-4).

Hammons picked up his third foul with 4:18 remaining in the first half. Indiana then scored the next 13 points to take a 47-25 lead.

Zeller scored six points in the stretch. Watford had five. Remy Abell had the other two points.

The Hoosiers used a 14-1 run to push the lead to 30 in the second half. Back-to-back three-pointers by Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell started the run. A three-pointer by Watford gave IU a 75-43 lead with 8:45 remaining in the game.

IU won its fourth straight to set up a showdown with No. 1 Michigan Saturday at Assembly Hall. Purdue lost for the second time in three games.
