Three employees were bound and robbed at gunpoint Tuesday at a Dollar General Store on Fort Waynes near-northeast side, police said.
City police arrived at the business at 1133 Coliseum Blvd. N., just south of Lake Avenue, about 9 p.m. after employees called police.
A store manager told police that two men wearing pantyhose masks and gray sweat suits – at least one was armed with a handgun – approached him outside the store. The men forced him inside and made him and another employee empty the cash register into a black cloth bag. The men also stole cellphones and wallets from the employees.
The men then placed plastic zip-tie straps on the manager and two other employees and forced them to crawl to one of the aisles in the store and lie on their stomachs.
The two robbers led the manager to the back door, but when he could not open the door to let them out, they fled through the front doors, police said.
A police dog tried to track the men but was not successful because of the cold temperatures.
