Cavs roll on Senior Night

The Canterbury girls basketball team beat Prairie Heights 68-49 at home Thursday on Senior Night.

The Class A top-ranked Cavaliers (17-2) honored two seniors, Bailey Farley (20 points) and Aaliyah Gaines (nine points). Kindell Fincher had 19 points, and Darby Maggard had 18.

Canterbury is the defending Class A state champions.

BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 71, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN 35: Olivia Byler scored 21 points to lead the visiting Braves.

Gymnastics

DEKALB 99.500, HOMESTEAD 96.550: Kristin Russell won the all-around with a 35.15. Russell won the bars and the floor, while teammate Ryley Gibson won the vault and Homestead’s Morgan Hardwick the beam.

Boys swimming

SOUTH ADAMS 94, DEKALB 86: Cory Sank won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle races and was part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team for the visiting Starfires.

DeKalb’s Seth Gillespie (50 free) and Kahler Goldsmith (100 free) won individual races and was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay.

Girls swimming

CONCORDIA 94, NORWELL 60: Maggie Lawson won first place in the 50 and 100 freestyle, as well as the 400 freestyle relay for the visiting Cadets.
