3 Fort Wayne charter schools not renewed

Johnson Academy, Imagine MASTer, Imagine Broadway among 7 ended statewide

Three charter schools in Fort Wayne -- Imagine MASTer Academy, Imagine Schools on Broadway and Timothy L. Johnson Academy -- will not be renewed when their contracts expire June 30, Ball State University announced Tuesday.

The three were among seven schools statewide whose charters were not renewed, the university said in a statement.

It said the decisions about the seven were "based on schools' academic performance and failure to present additional information that demonstrated they could achieve academic standards."

Other schools that will not be renewed:

  • Charter School of the Dunes, Gary.
  • Imagine Indiana Life Sciences Academy-East, Indianapolis.
  • Kenneth A. Christmon STEMM Leadership Academy, Richmond.
  • LEAD College Preparatory Charter School. Gary.
Previously, Ball State terminated authorization for one school, Urban Brightest in Fort Wayne, in 2004.
