The Komets and the Vera Bradley Foundation have planned their second annual "Pink the Rink" weekend Feb. 1 and 2 to raise money to fight breast cancer and to promote awareness for early detection and treatment, the club said today.
The weekend, which raised $15,000 in 2012, will be Feb. 1 against Kalamazoo and Feb. 2 against Cincinnati, the Komets said in a statement.
Komets palyers will wear pink jerseys trimmed in white and black during both games, the statement said. It said the jerseys will be sold during a silent auction held both nights, with net proceeds donated to the foundation.
Autographed "Pink the Rink" player pucks also will be sold for $15 each, with proceeds going to the foundation, the statement said.
The foundation, formed in 1998, has contributed $17.65 million to breast-cancer research at Indiana University's Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis.
