1-car crash claims S. Whitley woman

A 73-year-old woman died in a car crash over the weekend in Whitley County, according to a sheriff’s department report.

The crash happened about 2:45 p.m. Saturday west of South Whitley. The victim, Donna J. Rose, was headed west on County Road 500 South near County Road 800 West when the 2003 Chevrolet Impala she was driving went off the road and hit a tree, the report said.

Rose, of South Whitley, died at the scene, the report said.

What caused her to leave the road is under investigation.
