Damage heavy in southwest-side fire

Flames heavily damaged a house Sunday near Engle and Bluffton roads, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

Fire crews were dispatched to 3020 Allegany Ave. just before noon, and found heavy fire and smoke on the first floor in the living room, the department said.

Crews doused the flames and searched the two-story house but found no one.

The fire was under control in 20 minutes and did not spread beyond the first floor, the department said.

The cause is under investigation.
