Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority officials cut the ribbon on a new terminal building at Smith Field airport Monday.The new terminal, at 902 W.FORT WAYNE – An Allen Superior Court jury found in favor of the Fort Wayne-South Bend Catholic Diocese on Friday at the end of a civil trial that centered on a boy’s claims he was bullied.
The boy, who attended Most Precious Blood Catholic School while in the sixth and seventh grades in 2008 and 2009 claimed some of his classmates referred to him with gay slurs, talked obscenely about his mother, physically abused him and stole his pencils.
The local diocese and three of the boy’s classmates were initially named in the suit, with one classmate being dropped as the case wound its way through the legal system.
Friday, the jury found that one of the boy’s classmates did inflict emotional distress on the boy, but the four women and three men who comprised the panel awarded the boy and his family no money in damages.
The jury ruled the local diocese was not negligent as the family had claimed and also ruled in favor of another of the boy’s classmates accused of bullying him.
