Meeting of firsts for NACS board

The Northwest Allen County School board welcomed a new member and elected officers during Monday’s meeting.

Kent Somers, who won the District 1 seat in the November school board elections, replaces 10-year board member Donald Duff.

Also on Monday, Mary Wysong was named board president. She has served on the board since 2006 as an at-large representative.

John Hilger was elected vice president and Paul Sloffer will serve as secretary.

Hilger began on the board from 2002 to 2006 and returned to represent Lake Township in 2010.

Sloffer has served as Eel River Township’s representative since 1992.
