Half-dozen robberies at apartment complexes in city

A half-dozen armed robberies occurred in Fort Wayne apartment complexes on Monday and Tuesday, city police said today.

In a statement, they encouraged residents to park in well-lit areas, be aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious people, vehicles or activity.

The robberies reported to police were:

  • Monday, 10:58 p.m., 5127 Stonehedge Blvd, Canterbury Green Apartments -- Man and woman approached at the entrance of the apartment building by two men armed with handguns. Victims robbed of iPhones, purse, wallet, credit cards, and cash. No injuries.
  • Monday midnight, 2026 Ardmore Ave., Autumn Creek Apartments -- Woman reported shortly after walking into her apartment building, two men also entered the building, one brandishing a handgun. The two forced the victim into her apartment at gunpoint. One held the victim at gunpoint while the second searched around the home. Loss included a notebook computer and a wallet containing credit cards and cash. No injuries.
  • Tuesday, 8:24 p.m., 6416 Covington Road, Colony Bay Apartments -- Woman reported being approached by two men as she was checking for mail at the mailbox. Both were armed with handguns and robbed the victim of her purse and cell phone. No injuries.
  • Tuesday, 9:05 pm, 2122 Ardmore Ave., Autumn Creek Apartments -- Man reported being forced into his apartment at gunpoint by two men. Reported loss included various household items. No injuries.
  • Tuesday, 9:18 p.m., 5415 N. Clinton St., Gardenview Apartments -- Man reported being approached at his vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment building by two men; both were armed with handguns and robbed the victim of his iPhone, wallet and keys. No injuries.
  • Tuesday, 9:34 p.m., 5415 N. Clinton St., Gardenview Apartments -- Woman reported being approached at her vehicle in the apartment complex parking lot by a man armed with a handgun. He robbed the victim of her purse containing a wallet, credit cards, cash and other miscellaneous personal items. No injuries.
