Parkview offers free flu mist vaccine

Parkview Health Community Nursing will offer nearly 1,000 doses of the flu mist vaccine free to children who qualify, Parkview said today.

In a statement, Parkview said "officials are strongly encouraging healthy children six months and older, who have not received this year's vaccine, to get vaccinated as soon as possible."

The vaccine will be offered free to children on Hoosier Healthwise, who have no health insurance or whose health insurance does not pay for vaccines, the statement said. It said children also must be healthy and not have chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, seizures or heart conditions.

The vaccines will be offered --

  • Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Carew Medical Center, 1818 Carew St., Fort Wayne;
  • Monday, from 1 to 5 p.m. at K21 Health Services Pavilion, Conference Rooms A and B, 1515 Provident Drive, Warsaw.
