Police arrest 1 in pre-holiday robbery attempt

A Fort Wayne man has been arrested in connection with the Dec. 21 attempted robbery of a Chase Bank branch, city police said today.

Adam J. Bigger, 28, has been charged with attempted robbery of the 3810 Coldwater Road bank branch, Fort Wayne police said in a statement.

Bigger was arrested by city police detectives today, the statement said. It said Crime Stoppers received information that assisted detectives in their investigation.

Police have said a man went into the Chase Bank branch at 3810 Coldwater Road about 3:20 p.m., approached a teller and presented a note demanding money. Not able to get any cash, he left the bank and headed north on foot, they have said.

A police dog led officers north from the bank to a nearby mobile home park, but no arrest was made at that time, police have said.

Customers were in the bank when the holdup attempt occurred, but no one was injured, police have said. Witnesses told police the man did not show a weapon.
