Unusual reward for lost beagle

Author Dennis Lehane is offering an unusual reward for the person who finds his family’s beloved missing beagle.

Lehane says he’ll name a character in his next book after whoever finds Tessa, who disappeared from the family’s home in Brookline, Mass., this week.

He says on his Facebook page that Tessa jumped a fence at the home, and even though she has been microchipped, she was not wearing her tags.

Lehane says Tessa is “smart, fast, and immeasurably sweet.”

Lehane wrote “Mystic River,” “Gone Baby Gone,” “Shutter Island” and other books.

Rihanna donates

Pop star Rihanna has given $1.75 million to a hospital in her Caribbean homeland of Barbados in memory of her late grandmother.

Rihanna says the donation to buy three pieces of medical equipment was her way “giving back to Barbados.”

She made the comments during a Saturday ceremony with relatives at the island’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The hospital’s radiotherapy unit has been renamed the Clara Braithwaite Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine after Rihanna’s grandmother, who died in June.

Son is born

“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy and his husband, David Miller, have welcomed a son.

E! News Online reported that Logan Phineas Miller Murphy was born Monday. The couple sent out a birth announcement, which featured Logan laying inside a Christmas stocking, according to the pop culture news website.

New Simpson ad

Weight Watchers congratulated spokeswoman Jessica Simpson on her second pregnancy Wednesday and released a new ad with the singer sharing the news with viewers. She announced the pregnancy Tuesday on Twitter.

Weight Watchers said Simpson would begin the program again after the birth of her second child.
