Fire snuffed out at vacant house

Fire crews extinguished a blaze in a vacant house Tuesday, the city fire department said. About 6:50 a.m., firefighters were sent to 3009 Lillie St., near Colerick Street. Smoke was coming from the first and second floors.

Inside, firefighters found flames in the basement that had spread to the first floor. No injuries were reported. The blaze, which caused moderate to heavy damage, is under investigation.
