CINCINNATI – A national preservation group on Wednesday named a picturesque Ohio village as one of the nation’s most endangered historic places and is calling on state authorities to scrap a plan that village leadersCOLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Five companies have won tax credits for projects that could add 900 jobs in central Ohio.
Recipients of tax credits announced Monday by the state ranged from IBM — which pledged 500 new high-tech positions — to a vinyl-fence company that wants to add 25 jobs.
IBM said last month that it would locate its Client Center for Advanced Analytics at its existing campus in Columbus. The expansion will add $45.8 million in annual payroll.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that IBM's center is meant to capitalize on the big push by companies to capture, analyze and make sense of the billions of bits of data produced every minute by computer users.
It could also position Columbus as a national and even international center for such work.
