Truck rig slams overpass, snags I-469

Southbound lanes of Interstate 469 south of Fort Wayne were closed for two hours Wednesday after the driver of a tractor-trailer rig struck an overpass, causing him to lose his load of scrap metal, police said.

Vehicles were rerouted north on Winchester Road to westbound Ferguson Road to southbound Bluffton Road/Indiana 1 and back to I-469, according to the Indiana State Police.

The crash occurred about 5:30 a.m. between mile markers 6 and 9. Southbound lanes reopened about 7:30 a.m., police said.
