Norwell’s boys basketball team saved its best for the second act Tuesday night.
Trailing by a point at halftime at Bishop Dwenger, the Knights put together a 45-point second half to knock out the Saints 74-71. Josh VanMeter led with 26 points and got double-figure backing from Cam Denney with 17 and David Vogel with 11.
Kyle Hartman led Dwenger, which went in at halftime up 30-29, with 21 points. Ryan Christman added 16 and Grady Eifert 12.
HOMESTEAD 74, SOUTH SIDE 65: Five Spartans scored in double figures to lift Homestead at home. Caleb Swanigan scored 18, Trevor Osborn 16, John Geller and Nick Gamble 11 apiece and Joe Ault 10.
Homestead trailed 21-13 after a quarter but outscored South 20-13 in the second quarter and 23-13 in the fourth to put it away. Dominique Gleason scored 24 for South.
WOODLAN 73, ANGOLA 54: Corbin Evans scored 20 points, Shawn McGettigan 15 and Jaylin Bennett 10 to lead the Warriors at Woodlan. Justin Davis led Angola with 16 points. Woodlan led 22-11 after a quarter and 38-24 at halftime.
FREMONT 58, GARRETT 48: A 17-9 third quarter lifted Fremont clear of the Railroaders at Garrett. Tyler Jenkins scored 28 points to lead the visiting Eagles.
Matt Singleton (15), Justin McCoy (14) and Joe Martin (10) led Garrett.
BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 52, EASTSIDE 42: Blackhawk turned a three-point halftime lead into an 11-point lead with a 20-12 third quarter en route to victory at Blackhawk. Preston Rippe scored 17 points and Riley Reimschisel 13 for the Braves.
Jayden Lilly and Dalton Shetler scored 14 apiece for Eastside.
NORTH SIDE 57, NEW HAVEN 50: The Redskins got 21 points from Sierra Miranda to take down the Bulldogs at North. North Side trailed 29-28 at the half but broke it open with a 14-5 third quarter.
CANTERBURY 104, LAKEWOOD 66: Four Cavaliers scored more 20 or more points in their blowout win. Bailey Farley scored 30 points, Kindell Fincher 24, Darby Maggard 23 and Aaliyah Gaines 20 for Class A No. 1 Canterbury.
HOMESTEAD 57, NORWELL 21: The Spartans won 10 weight classes, seven by pinfall, to beat the Knights at Norwell.
BELLMONT 40, NEW HAVEN 27: Bellmont won seven weight classes, three by pinfall, to beat New Haven. The Braves won three of the last four classes to seal it.
SOUTH ADAMS 96, CONCORDIA 63: Drew LeFever and David Steffen each won two individual events to lead the Starfires. South Adams won 10 events including all three relays.
SOUTH ADAMS 90, CONCORDIA 86: South Adams won two of the three relays and five other events to edge the Cadets.
Cady Farlow won the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke and swam a leg on both winning relays to lead the Starfires.
