Valentin returns to manage TinCaps

Jose Valentin will return for a second season as the manager for the TinCaps, the team announced in conjunction with the San Diego Padres Tuesday.

Valentin led Fort Wayne to the franchise's second Eastern Division championship. The TinCaps lost to Wisconsin in the Midwest League championship.

Valentin was named the Low-A Manager of the year for 2012 by Baseball America.

Fort Wayne had an overall record of 69-71 in the regular season and went 38-32 in the second half to make the playoffs for the fourth straight season.

The TinCaps beat Lansing and Lake County in the playoffs before falling to Wisconsin 3-1 in the championship round.

Pitching coach Willie Blair returns for a third consecutive season. Fort Wayne will have a new hitting coach as Morgan Burkhart replaces Jacque Jones.
