Pizza shop delivers to farmers in their fields

BUCK CREEK, Ind. – An Indiana pizza shop is doing brisk business with a unique delivery service to farmers who don't have time to leave their combines during harvest season.

Buck Creek Pizza Co. owner Jay Mitchell said about 20 farmers have been customers of his to-the-field deliveries. Mitchell told the Journal & Courier ( that he'll send his drivers anywhere within eight miles of his shop in the community of Buck Creek near Lafayette.

Mitchell said he's finding that many farmers don't have time to take many meal breaks and will eat in a truck bed.

Betty Peabody said her husband ordered a pizza from Mitchell's shop last week because his main goal is to keep his combine and other equipment running as the crew goes field to field.
