Northeast Indiana marching bands advance to semistates

At least 11 area high school marching bands are headed to semistate competition after performing at regional events Saturday.

Marching bands throughout the state competed in Indiana State Music School Association contests at four regional sites: Lafayette Jefferson High School, Chesterton High School, Center Grove High School in Greenwood and Evansville Central High School.

Regional competition will be Oct. 27 at four sites. The state finals will be Nov. 3 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Most of the 22 northeast Indiana bands that qualified for regional competition performed Saturday at Lafayette Jefferson and Chesterton high schools.

Lafayette Jefferson

In Class A, Homestead, Snider and Carroll received gold ratings and advanced to semistate. Northrop received a silver rating and also advanced to semistate.

In Class C, Woodlan, Concordia, Norwell and Angola received gold ratings and advanced to semistate competition.

Chesterton

In Class B, North Side, DeKalb and East Noble received gold ratings and advanced to semistate.

Results from Class D were not available at press time.
