5 days remain to sign up for Christmas toys, assistance

Statement as issued Friday by the Salvation Army in Fort Wayne:

Only five (5) more days remain for Allen County families to register for Christmas assistance from The Salvation Army and the Marine Corps Toys for Tots organizations.

Applications will be taken at The Salvation Army Corps, 2901 N. Clinton St. No appointments will be needed and every day next week will be an open letter day. The final days applications will be accepted are Monday-Friday, October 15-19 from 9:00 am-11:00 am and 1:00 pm-3:00 pm.

Families who are struggling financially are encouraged to apply to receive a new outfit and toys for their children ages 0-14, a gift card for their 15-17 year old teens and food for their Christmas dinner. Allen County Coordinator, Major Harold Poff said, “We need to get the word out to families in need since next Friday will be the last day to apply for help. We want children to experience a Merry Christmas and a day of hope despite their family’s financial situation.”

The list of required documents for the application process each family must provide can be found on The Salvation Army’s website: safortwayne.org or by calling (260) 744-2311 and pressing extension 207. Please obtain any missing documents before applying. Anyone with additional questions may call (260) 744-2311.

The Salvation Army has been serving the Fort Wayne area since 1886.
