Two men armed with handguns robbed the front desk of a hotel Saturday night in north Fort Wayne, city police said.
One of the men jumped the counter at the Country Inn & Suites, 5926 Cross Creek Blvd., and pointed a chrome-colored revolver at the clerk, demanding money, said officer Jason Anthony, a police spokesman.
The clerk, a woman, opened a drawer, and the men took an undisclosed amount of cash, along with a phone she had.
The men fled through the front door and went west, Anthony said.
Officers were dispatched to the hotel, near West Washington Center and Lima roads, about 9:10 p.m. A police dog led officers to a parking lot west of the hotel but no farther.
It appears they had a car waiting there, Anthony said.
Investigators are trying to obtain surveillance video of the robbery, he said.
The robbers were each wearing a black-and-white bandanna, black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. The robber who hopped over the counter was a white man in his mid-20s.
The other man was black, also in his mid-20s.
