18-year-old found in yard was stabbed to death

FORT WAYNE – An 18-year-old Fort Wayne man's body was discovered Tuesday morning in the backyard of a boarded-up house near Weisser Park, Fort Wayne police said.

He was identified Wednesday as Deonta Tyrese Bonner by the Allen County Coroner's Office. His death was caused by a stab wound to the chest and ruled a homicide.

Someone found the body in the middle of the yard at 2935 Weisser Park Ave., north of Colerick Street, and 911 dispatchers were alerted at about 11:20 a.m.

Bonner's death is the 24th homicide in Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2012.
