Columbia City announced Tuesday morning that a 12-inch water main broke at U.S. 30 and Indiana 205.

It said Parkview Whitley Hospital, Peabody Library, Eagle Glen and Irish Glen would be without water service until repairs are made.

In a statement, Parkview said the break happened in front of the hospital, but officials immediately switched to a well system. The break did not affect patient care or other hospital functions, it said.

The medical office plaza connected to the hospital is not connected to the well system, Parkview said, and extra bottles of water have been moved there. No services have been affected within the plaza, it said.

Patients who have appointments at the medical office plaza later Tuesday morning or Tuesday afternoon are encouraged to call ahead to see whether anything has changed, Parkview said.
