Woman killed in U.S. 24 crash is ID'd

FORT WAYNE – An 86-year-old Fort Wayne woman who was killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer rig Saturday afternoon has been identified by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

Margie Ellen Dennie was driving a red Chrysler car west on U.S. 24 when it crossed the center line and hit the eastbound rig, according to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department and coroner’s office.

Shortly after 1:15 p.m., first responders were sent to the crash scene on U.S. 24 just east of Doyle Road. Dennie died at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.

The coroner’s office ruled she died of injuries from the crash.
