For the police officer, the man’s body language was the giveaway. His combative stance and his abrupt hand movement hinted at the possibility of danger.Warsaw police say an argument about drug use before dawn Wednesday ended in minor injuries, but the woman involved stabbed a man three times in the chest with a steak knife.
Officers responded to a 911 hang-up call shortly before 6:25 a.m. at an address in the 1600 block of East Clark Street. Dispatchers called the number back and were told a domestic dispute was under way and the woman had a knife.
Police found Michael A. Mott, 41, with three minor stab wounds, according to a statement issued by the Warsaw Police Department. It said he was treated at the scene but refused to be taken to a hospital.
Crystal M. Bennett, 33, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, police said. Police said she also had minor injuries.
Both were described by police as being intoxicated at the time of the fight in their home.
