Yum-Mee's Bakery has opened a second location, in Glenbrook Square. The bakery is located across from Barnes & Noble, next to Starbucks. This second location, which opened Saturday, has the same food items available as its State Boulevard location, says Andrew Fisher, counter help at the State Boulevard Yum-Mee's and almost-manager of both stores.
Yum-Mee's serves cookies, brownies, muffins, pastry items and, the bakery's best-seller, cupcakes. The Glenbrook store will also offer special-order cakes.
Also opening Saturday was Orange Leaf, a DIY frozen yogurt franchise at 2870 E. Dupont Road, next to Bandido's. What sets Orange Leaf apart from other frozen yogurt shops, owner Joe Parrot says, is that the yogurt is made fresh in house.
The store offers 65 flavors to rotate through eight machines, making 16 possible flavors at once. Orange Leaf also has 32 toppings, such as gummy worms, nuts and fresh fruit.
Parrot's favorite concoction so far is a peanut butter and chocolate swirl yogurt topped with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, chocolate chips and chocolate syrup.
Customers can share their favorite flavors on the Orange Leaf app available on smart phones. The My Orange Leaf app lets users choose their home store, see the day's flavor lineup and vote for their favorite flavors.
"If you have visited Orange Leaf in another city and they have something you really like, you can go in and comment on the store's application," Parrot says.
The location has previously housed E&V Construction and The DeHayes Group.
