  • Let the training begin!
They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and never have I banked on those words as much as I have when picking out a training plan for Fort4Fitness.
  • In training: Meet Tami
Meet Tami Brigle. She is a northwest Ohio resident who works in Fort Wayne. She began running a little more than a year ago, starting with Couch to 5K. Running helped her lose 55 pounds (she's lost 105 pounds total).
  • Triple play

Salamonie Day Camp

Day campers at the Salamonie "Pioneer" kids day camp practice canoeing. Video by Michelle Davies - Journal Gazette

During Wednesday's "Pioneers" kids day camp at Salamonie Lake, Michael Cordes, 10, watches the ripples as the canoe he is steering glides through the water.

Being a novice at video, when I was asked to shoot my first video assignment, I felt a little nervous. After making sure to take along a monopod for steadiness, I approached the subject: kids in canoes.

They completely ignored me and went about their paddling, which helped me to relax and just shoot away. After getting a few video clips of the action, I made sure to get some still photos. Once I got back to the office, the videos and stills were combined to make my inaugural video. Which, for me, was quite satisfying.
