Annette K. Deaton
Age: 51
Employer: Rothberg Logan & Warsco LLP
Month and year hired: June 1982
Current job title: Legal assistant
First job with the employer: Legal secretary for Denny Logan and Rick Blaich
Most challenging job with the employer: Having to hem a bosss pants while he was still in them and another attorney walked in. The look on his face was priceless. The other challenge is the last-minute rush projects at 4:50 p.m.
Why the employee stayed so long: I truly do like my job and the people I work with. Working for Denny Logan is one of the reasons I have stayed so long. He has been a great boss and a good friend. Now I am blessed to be working for Mike Zaradich who always cracks me up and Kevin Carretta who, although I dont know him very well yet, is a super friendly and interesting guy. Also, the firm was so understanding during my hospitalizations and kidney transplant.
Why the employee is an asset to the employer: The attorneys for which Deaton works say her work product and ethic add great value to our business, and her attitude and personality add tremendous value to our culture. By being as much of a friend as she is a co-worker, she helps to make RLW a place where people enjoy working. She is a gem. She is also a valued team member – She is hard working, has a positive attitude, is a team player with a great sense of humor and is extremely loyal.
Books currently reading: None
Hobbies, interests outside of work: Reading and spending time with family, sometimes playing games or other activities. Also a school volunteer.
How many years until employee retires: I plan on retiring when RLW puts up the 50-year plaque. Then I will be 71 years old.
What the employee would like to be doing in retirement: Baby-sitting grandchildren, if she has any by then.
